Weight loss for the week – 0 pounds

Total weight loss – 19 pounds

Hi Gals:

I loved reading your blogs this morning – made me LOL!!!

It’s been a particularly difficult week at the Hall Home and I have had zero motivation – even with the good weather.  I feel like my life has been on hold for the last few weeks.  Let me explain – Rich has been in extreme pain in his neck, shoulder and arm for 2+ weeks and we just couldn’t get to the bottom of what was causing the pain.  Believe me, he tried everything – pain killers, steroid injection, x-rays, acupuncture, doctor’s appts – $$$.  One of the doctors Rich saw last week told him that all of the pain he was having was just stress induced and that he needed to relax more . . . seriously?  If all of Rich’s pain issues were related to stress – he would have been dead 32 years ago – about the same time he got married to me.  Well, we finally got an answer to his pain problem – Rich had a MRI of his neck last night and it showed a bulging disk that is pushing on his spinal area.  This experience further confirms for me the notion that our bodies are amazing, yet sometimes a little mysterious.  Sometimes, we just need to listen to what are bodies are trying to tell us.

As for me, my body is telling me that I have GOT to exercise more!!!

Sorry for the rant ladies – I just feel like my life has been on hold for the last few weeks – or, maybe this whole ordeal has just been an excuse to get off my game plan.  Thanks for sharing your experiences and for your encouraging words.

Here’s hoping we all have a healthier, more active week!!!

Weight lost this week: 1/2 lb.

Total weight lost:  16lbs.

Happy Mother’s Day!!

Ok girls…here is the recipe that I promised you.   I made this last week for my husband and he loved it and ate it all except for the little bit that I ate.  I thought it was just ok.  I gave myself an A+ for trying something new.

 EGGS IN A NEST

2 cups uncooked brown rice (cook rice with 4 cups water in a covered pot) Olive oil  (a few Tbls.) 1 medium onion and garlic to taste (sauté onions and garlic in olive oil in a wide skillet until lightly golden)

Carrots, chopped, cut up tomato (Add and sauté for a few more minutes adding a slight amount of water.) 1 really large bunch of chard, coarsely chopped (I used red chard) (Mix with other vegetables and cover pan for a few minutes.  Uncover, stir well then use the back of a spoon to make depressions in the cooked leaves, circling the pan like numbers on a clock. 6-8 eggs  (Break an egg into each depression, being careful to keep yolks whole.  Cover pan again and allow eggs to poach for 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and serve over rice.  Enjoy!

I hope you like!  Let me know what you think!  I should have taken a picture of it but then you wouldn’t have tried it!  Ha ha!    I have decided to try making mozzarella cheese from raw milk…should be great!  I’ll let you know.

This past weekend we were in Oregon visiting our grandchildren and I ate like a pig.  My daughter knows this lady in her ward that makes and sells her cupcakes. Oh holy cow and are they yummy!  Wow!  The chocolate mint were my favorite but the salted caramel was a close second. The peanut butter ones were amazing as well.  As you can tell I ate my fill of them and, I gotta tell you, my tummy didn’t feel that great.  On our way home we always stop at JB’s parents house in Longview for a visit and I ate cake and ice cream there too! Please…I didn’t want to be rude! :)  Anyway…Monday is another week, thank goodness!

Have a fantastic week and serve your hubby up something different for dinner! ;)

Flab-U-Less Janell – Family time

Down a smidge

Down from the start!

Pretty good week – finally got a good supply of GoodBelly so I won’t run out!!  I like it!  I also added some chia seeds and aloe juice to my daily routine.   Work out has been sporadic lately, so I am going to work on being more consistent!  With such beautiful weather, it will be a JOY to get out and walk etc! (but will also be including LOTS of yard work!) Luke will be happy too!

Had a fun night out with the family on Friday ~ All the kids together at a movie ~ the last time we ALL went to a movie together was in 1991!!

Thank you all for your support and hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s day!!

Fierce Jody – Happy Mother’s Day Friends

Cameron, Courtney, Amanda & Tice

What a beautiful Mother’s Day! My family together, the weather spectacular…what more could I ask? You can see my garden (with new garden boxes) in the background. My hubby and I worked really hard to take advantage of all this nice weather and get it planted. Can’t wait for all those yummy veggies!

I am still the same weight…no gain no loss but I sure can feel how everything has gone south and jiggles these days, I really miss the feeling that came after nine months of daily rowing, the strength when I climbed the stairs, the way I could dance and my thighs didn’t have their own rhythm.  I think I am truly ready to make that commitment to that regime again; I just need to get started and stick with it for a couple of weeks, which is always the hardest for me, and since I am well again and my energy is back I think I can do it, I know I can.

Wish me luck friends.

Fierce Bretta – Garden fever

Weight loss this week: 1.5 lbs

Weight loss total: 4.5 lbs

I had a great week in the garden.  We were able to get free compost and free soil – 2 truck bed full.  That is a heck of a lot of shoveling in and shoveling out and my arm muscles are super sore.  I have loved the sunny weather we are having and that means I am outside working in my yard.  We also built a couple of new garden boxes this year.

Food this week has been tough.  I ate out more than I wanted to using the excuse “it is mother’s day.”  I am excited to do better this week.  I also ran and walked 4 mornings this week!

Here’s to a great week in the sun!

Flab-U-Less Carol – Still smiling

Carol with her separated shoulder at Mukilteo Beach

Weight gain this week: 3 lbs.

Total weight loss: 10 lbs.

So, here’s my story for this week.  I started out great, down a couple pounds and the weather was beautiful on Monday.  I had the day off and my husband was finally feeling good enough, so we went for a bike ride.  We went mountain biking up at the tree farm in Arlington and as we were just about to the car on our return, I launched myself over my handlebars.  This resulted in a trip to the walk-in clinic where I was told I had a shoulder separation and would be in a sling for 2-4 weeks.  So, no exercise, other than walking, no work and I’ve been at the mercy of my husband for meals.  He’s actually a good cook, if we have the right food at home, but we hadn’t done any grocery shopping, so we ate out a lot and I ate a lot of food that was bad for me.  I have to say, that I didn’t feel very good eating all the grease and sugar, and boy, did it show on the scale!  So, I’ve done a menu and shopping and have been eating well the past few days and will get those pounds back off soon!  On the up side, I was down in all my measurements last week, which was wonderful to see!  I love this warm, sunny weather and wish I could be gardening or bike riding, but we did get down to Mukilteo beach for a while on Saturday and it was wonderful!

Hope you all have a great week!

Flab-U-Less Michelle – What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger =)

Weight loss for the week – 1 pound

Total Weight loss – 19 pounds

Hi FF’s:

I had a good week and ate healthy for the most part – it’s that other part that will kill you though.  Eating healthy on the weekend is still my biggest challenge.

I did try one of the GoodBelly products – I tried the coconut drink because it had the least amount of sugar and the fewest carbs.  I’m afraid it wasn’t very tasty – I tried one drink and decided that was one drink too many.  Rich liked it though – but you should know that he will eat and drink just about anything.  I think it would be OK to use in my fruit smoothies – I’ll try it and get back to you.

Hope you all have a great week both in body and mind.

Flab-U-Less Leanne – GoodBelly…lets talk about it

Lost this week: zero!

Total weight lost:  15 1/2 lbs.

Well girls… this week was a no loser for me! :(  I was only able to walk 1 day this week due to the pouring down raining and moving our daughter and her family into a new home.  I am still sticking to my eating healthy whole foods.  I even got to go the “Whole Foods” store in Lynnwood. It’s expensive, but fun to look at all the bulk foods and meats. They also have ALL the GoodBelly drinks there…all the flavors and sizes.

While I am talking about GoodBelly, let’s talk about it…I really liked the flavor, it was easy to drink.  I know that is it really good for digestion but I don’t have any problems with that.  I had drunk the GoodBelly for about 9 days and it plugged me up.  Usually I don’t have any pooping problems but, WOW I needed to go but it was a struggle making it happen.  I have never had that problem before.  I now have empathy for those that have to deal with constipation because it is miserable!   I decided to quit drinking it to see what happened and I am happy to say that, after 3 days, my system is back to normal. Thank goodness! Whew!    I believe that GoodBelly is good for some people but it wasn’t for  me.  I really hope it is working better for all of you!

I will have another recipe for you next week…I am going to try it myself first before I pass it on…maybe it’s nasty! :)

Good luck this next week and eat healthy!!
